Kevin Forti
Director of Residence Life

Kevin holds B.S.and B.A. Degrees from Western New England University and an M.Ed. from Springfield College. He has worked in Residence Life for over 15 years and has been at RISD since 2014. He provides departmental oversight and focus on planning and development, budgeting and resource management, goal setting, and cross functional strategic alignment.

DMurphyDaniel Murphy
Associate Director for Residence Education

Dan is originally from a small town in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. He holds a B.S. in Education from Bucknell University, where he minored in studio art and concentrated on incorporating art into the K-6 curriculum, and a M.A. in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University. In his spare time you can find Dan walking his dog or going for a run around Providence, exploring new coffee shops, and finding the best desserts in Rhode Island.

Anu Meschisen
Associate Director for Housing Operations

Anu was born in Bombay, India where she lived for a majority of her childhood. She completed her bachelor’s degree in History and Secondary Education from Providence College in 2010.  Anu began working at RISD in 2014 to make student housing processes more efficient and streamlined. Anu enjoys traveling, cleaning, gardening, and snuggling with her two cats.

Carly Tryens
Department Coordinator

Carly is from Pennsylvania by way of New York where she received her degrees in Apparel Design and Illustration from The Fashion Institue of Technology. After a brief stint curating, she taught Maritime studies at Kingsborough College in Brooklyn before moving to New England in 2015 to sail professionally in Newport, RI. Carly is excited to be back in the arts community and enjoys supporting and working with young artists. When not at RISD, Carly enjoys yoga, thrifting, horseback riding and summer days in Newport.

Alex Bryan
Area Coordinator for First Year Housing

Alex was born and raised in Southeast Missouri, where she enjoyed the rolling hills of the Ozarks. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and her Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Missouri. Her passions in life coincide with her career at RISD, involving art and education. In her spare time, Alex loves to travel, tour museums, read and spend time with her cat, Shelly.

Britt Locklin
Resident Director, First Year Housing

Britt is a native New Englander, having grown up in Central Massachusetts. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Communications from Salem State University, and is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel at the University of Rhode Island. In her undergraduate studies, Britt worked as an RA and SRA in first and second year communities. She is passionate about helping students from all backgrounds find their voice, and thrive as leaders and global citizens. Britt enjoys dancing, baking, shopping at flea markets, and exploring the city with her dog, Coco.

Benjamin Mead
Area Coordinator for Hill Houses & Apartments

Benjamin is originally from the small town of West Newbury in northeastern Massachusetts. Benjamin holds a B.A. in European History and Religious Studies with a minor in French from Salve Regina University and a M.T.S. degree from Boston University School of Theology. If Benjamin doesn’t have his nose in a book, you can find him by the ocean, in a museum or the theater, or at a tap dance class.

JeckelsJade Eckels
Residence Director for Hill Houses

Jade graduated in May of 2018 from Brandeis University, where she double majored in English and African-American Studies. At Brandeis, Jade was deeply involved in extracurricular activities, including working as a Resident Advisor during her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Urban Education Policy at Brown University. She is excited to bring her passions for positive youth development and education equity to her work as a Resident Director.

Caley Logsdon
Area Coordinator for 15 West

Originally from Kentucky, Caley joined the RISD Residence Life team in 2017 as the Area Coordinator of 15 West.  Caley holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Popular Cultural Studies from Western Kentucky University as well as a master’s degree in Leadership in Student Affairs from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Caley most recently joined us from Arizona State University – Tempe, where she worked professionally in University Housing with Barrett, the Honors College.  Outside of work, you’ll usually find Caley hanging upside down on the aerial silks or trapeze, trying out new restaurants around Providence, enjoying WaterFire, or reading a good book.  Caley is excited to be a part of the RISD community and looks forward to advancing social justice and inclusion as well as artist mindfulness and well-being in her time here.

Chen-Hong (Tony) Chen
Resident Director for 15 West

Tony holds a B.S in Criminal Justice- Forensic Psychology from the University of New Haven where he was a Resident Assistant, Wellness Peer Educator, and Programming Assistant. He is currently attending URI for a Master’s in College Student Personnel and hopes to further expand his passion in social justice and diversity programming to the RISD community. In his free time, Tony enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, and exploring new places.

Melynda Heying
Support Specialist

Melynda makes her way to RISD via Milton, MA from Minnesota with a B.A. in English and mass communications with a minor in editing and publishing along with an M.S. in Counseling and Student Affairs – both from Minnesota State University Moorhead (go Dragons!). She is excited to be supporting Residence Life at RISD in a myriad of ways, but is most eager to support students’ wellness and to be immersed in a highly diverse and forward-thinking community. Some of Melynda’s favorite things include forcing affection upon her cat, Sir Elliott McSquigglePants, drinking coffee at inappropriate times to drink coffee, and rating the quality of poutine at restaurants throughout Providence.
